I come out of hiding for one reason. To point to the best muppet double entendre EVER! I'm somewhat tired high right now, as well.
So, I'm having some sort of health issues, will find out what's going on and whether it's major on friday.

I want an honest opinion, not an ego stroke. Am I prickly? My mother says I am, and that's why I can't get a boyfriend. I don't know if that's true, but I try not to be.
I mean, I have been pursued before, but, honestly, they were impossibilities. (Read: Lessin and Tim). Maybe I'm just way too picky.

So, I normally put video games on my Amazon wishlist and they have the highest priority. So when I went to Borders today to indulge myself in a little DVD buying, I assumed that what I was buying would not have been all ready bought for holiday shopping. So I buy it, return home to remove it from my Amazon wishlist. Looking at my wishlist, which hasn't been changed since October, I see that most of the things are still pre-order only. The release dates of all the games that were going to be released this month had been pushed back. So now there are only 3 things available for Christmas on my wishlist, and though I don't know which ones, two have been bought all ready.
So I guess I'm returning the DVDs to borders. Does anyone know if the return policy for Borders requires it to be to the same store or can I return it in PA in a week?

I've been out of contact for two months, I realize that.
October was just a really bad month for me, for various reasons and November was simply busy. My cellphone also got put in the wash, so if anyone has tried to call me in the last month, that would be the reason I haven't responded yet. My phone wasn't due to be updated until Dec. 5.
In other news, I have a snow day today. I didn't think that was possible in grad school, but apparently it is. So everyone in my 706 class due to give presentations today now must give them on Friday and Monday. So my timeslot has been halved, which is a good thing.

I have tea, a blanket, and a movie going on in the background that I'm only semi-interested in. I'm good to start work on my compilers project.
On an unrelated note, the day after I posted about the weird tentacle fic, chapter ten was posted, we now have a real kiss, between two characters who currently have normal limbs. What really amuses me is that the author intended it to be a one shot porn. The plot hit it over the head. I'm posting mainly because the idea just makes me laugh out loud, even though it's a bit squick.

I've been busier than expected. A stomach bug put me behind on everything in my todo list. Overall, it's been a crappy couple of days. I'll probably comfort myself by reading one of my favorite fics, which is a fic with plot and no porn, the reason I mention this is because it is also a tent!fic. Which isn't that odd in the ffvii universe, considering we have a mad scientist with access to cells from an alien creature (who certainly looked like she had tentacles when we fought her, but this is very early PS1, so it's hard to tell) and a pentient for human experimentation. Still, we are quite a few chapters in and there is The mind is blown.

I just discovered there's a PL prof from MIT named Daniel Jackson coming to give a lecture in November. The whole class during which my prof was discussing it, I kept hearing the Stargate theme in my head.

At work, but not actually doing work. Been working on my crochet and watching Veronica Mars (at home, not at work). Made arrangements to see 9 with some people this friday.
My meds, which I take at night, say that their side affect is drowsiness, which is good, because then I should get a good nights sleep in theory.
That's the problem with theory, in never works for me in practice.
On the fanfic note, I've decided to try to start writing it again. I have two ideas for various fandoms, one is final fantasy vii, the other I'm unwilling to even speak of due to embarassment.
However, I believe I'm going to start by rescuing a harry potter fic I wrote years ago (read: early highschool) that clearly descended in Mary Sue realm, considering it starred an OC. It will still star said OC, she will still have a few of those Mary Sue qualities, but I think I can make her deeply flawed, in both personality and ability. She will clearly have a bit of me in her, mainly my sense of justice, which is what the whole fic revolves around anyway. Or more accurately, the wizarding legal system wants to make me rip my hair out. I think I have to make her somewhat classically beautiful, because that would just be fighting against genetics, which would make her different from her family, which is more a Sue quality.

Well, only a few people are reading these, but whatever. I'm feeling so homesick it isn't funny. I miss my friends. I miss my parents. I miss my dogs. I hate it here. Oh well. I'll get over it, I hope.
